Red Rice

Red rice has a unique colour due a compound called anthocyanin, which also provides a great boost of antioxidants.

It too contains the outer bran and cereal germ. This rice definitely contains a higher amount of nutrients than white rice.

It retain the essential components the bran layer and the cereal germ, which contain vitamin B1, calcium, magnesium, potassium and fibre.

In addition, it has properties which lower cholesterol levels and prevent obesity.

The distinguishing factor comes in the form of a variety of antioxidants in red rice, which helps its nutritional level jump several notches above the brown variety.

The antioxidant activity in red rice is found to be almost 10 times more than brown rice.

Red rice is also a source of selenium, which protects the body against infections.

Owing to the simple fact that the red rice contain a high fibre component, they will have you feel fuller for a longer time and also helps to strengthen the digestive system and regularise bowel movement.

The fibre will slow down the rate at which the carbohydrates are converted into sugar in the body, which is why these types become better for diabetics.
